All AirAsia Group flight crew return negative results from mandatory drug tests

"Safety and security are fundamental to everything we do at AirAsia and we have zero tolerance for drug use," AirAsia Group chief operations officer, Captain Suresh Bangah, said. "All pilots and cabin crew are subject to stringent fit-to-fly requirements, including regular drug and alcohol testing, as part of the group’s established safety framework. This ensures that our operating crew are fit to perform their duties safely and professionally." Malaysia-based airlines have been conducting mandatory tests of their active flight crews following the arrest in August in Indonesia of an off-duty Malaysia Airlines pilot after he was found with 70,000 ecstasy pills and tested positive for illegal drugs.
