AirAsia Indonesia considering debt restructuring, capital raising to bolster balance sheet

Read More » The company said it was considering several alternatives to improve its negative equity position, including restructuring trade payables and/or lease liabilities into equity, holding a rights issue to raise capital, or getting a capital increase from shareholders. AirAsia Indonesia, whose shares have been suspended on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since June due to its negative equity position, said the three alternatives were currently at the "internal review and evaluation" stage with the company’s shareholders. "The company expects that the alternatives currently under discussion will improve the company’s equity position, strengthen its capital structure, enhance the company’s financial flexibility in carrying out its business activities, and support the creation of long-term value for the company’s shareholders and stakeholders," AirAsia Indonesia said in a regulatory filing. Malaysia-headquartered AirAsia Group is currently seeking US$1 billion in debt refinancing to improve its balance sheet.
