Alaska Airlines to seek approval to join American, JAL’s trans-Pacific joint business

Alaska Airlines will seek regulatory approval to join the joint-business partnership for trans-Pacific services alongside American Airlines and Japan Airlines, which was established in 2010. Read More » In addition to the trans-Pacific joint business, Alaska will also apply to the U.S. Department of Transportation and applicable government agencies overseas to join the trans-Atlantic partnership with Aer Lingus, American, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and LEVEL. Alaska Airlines said inclusion in these international joint businesses was "critical to Alaska’s ability to develop its international reach" while delivering improved connectivity throughout the West Coast to better serve joint business customers. "Joining these joint businesses would put Alaska on equal footing with its competitors by giving our guests more seamless access to international destinations while preserving the care, loyalty benefits and premium experience they expect from Alaska," Alaska Airlines chief commercial officer, Andrew Harrison, said.
