Read More » The company was responding to a request from the BSE stock exchange to clarify a local news report regarding the DCGA’s review of the airline’s finances and recent share price movement. "The company is aware of the regulatory monitoring/review by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation concerning the broader operational and financial position of the airline," SpiceJet said in its letter to the BSE. "The company would like to clarify that the aforesaid regulatory monitoring should not be construed or represented as a new declaration or finding of safety concerns against the Company. DGCA routinely undertakes safety audits, surveillance and spot checks of airlines as part of its regulatory oversight. SpiceJet has also undergone various such regulatory exercises in the past." The airline said the current regulatory monitoring by the DGCA "may not be equated with, or represented as, a fresh finding of safety deficiencies against the company". SpiceJet said it was compliant with its disclosure obligations to the stock exchange and was unaware of any material information which could explain the recent movement in the company’s share price. The stock has fallen about 4.8% over the past five trading days. "The movement in the market price of the company’s securities is market-driven, and the company is not in a position to comment on the specific reasons for such movement," SpiceJet said.
