SIA Group reports 6.3% passenger growth; cargo demand buoyed by front-loading trend

Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) flew 3.4 million passengers in May, up 6.3% from the 3.2 million air travellers of a year ago. Read More » The airline group - Singapore Airlines and Scoot - said passenger load factor was 0.3 of a percentage point higher at 86.4% and capacity increased 2.8%. At full-service Singapore Airlines, passengers transported in the 31 days were up 5.1% to 2.3 million. LCC Scoot recorded faster passenger growth than its full-service sister carrier of 8.6% or 1.1 million customers flown in the 31 days. Cargo loads improved 4.2% in the month with demand “supported by front-loading activity in anticipation of growing uncertainty in the global trade environment”, SIA said.
