Read More » The updated guidance was included in Boeing’s latest financial report, which showed the company had a net loss of US$5.3 billion in the three months to September 30 2025, an improvement from the net loss of US$6.2 billion in the same quarter last year. Revenue rose 30% to US$23.3 billion, Boeing said in a regulatory filing. Launched in 2013, the 777-9X program has faced repeated delays through its development and now certification phase. It is currently six years behind schedule. Boeing has booked a US$4.9 billion charge associated with the updated 777-9X certification timeline. "While we are disappointed in the 777X schedule delay, the airplane continues to perform well in flight testing," Boeing CEO, Kelly Ortberg, said. "We remain focused on the work ahead to complete our development programs and stabilise our operations in order to fully recover our company’s performance and restore trust with all of our stakeholders." Despite delays to the program, the 777-9X has been strongly backed by the market, with Asia-Pacific carriers to have ordered the aircraft including All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.
