AirAsia Malaysia will start daily nonstop flights to Batam in Indonesia from its Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) hub from March 13. Read More » It is the AirAsia Group’s first route to Batam, the largest city in Indonesia’s Riau Islands south of Singapore and accessible by boat from Singapore and Malaysia. "We are thrilled to expand our connectivity with the new Kuala Lumpur–Batam route, providing more opportunities for travel, tourism and cultural exchange," AirAsia Malaysia CEO, Captain Fareh Mazputra, said. "Malaysians and Singaporeans are among Batam’s top visitors, and this route will also allow other travellers to explore the island while giving people of Batam easier access to destinations across our wide network from our main hub." AirAsia group airlines will have 19 routes between Indonesia and Malaysia once the Batam service takes off. Currently, Batik Air Malaysia flies to Batam from KLIA. Next month, Berjaya Air is scheduled to start flying to Batam from Kuala Lumpur Subang.
