Air China to participate in Shenzhen Airlines capital raising with cash and five A350 aircraft

Read More » The company, which is one of three major shareholders of Shenzhen Airlines alongside Kunhang Investment and Shenzhen International Logistics, said in a regulatory filing its contribution comprised a combination of cash and five A350 aircraft. Two of the Airbus widebodies were expected to be delivered by the end of this month, with the delivery dates for the remaining three aircraft subject to airworthiness registration, negotiations on air traffic rights and slot acquisitions. Kunhang Investment is contributing 5.8 billion yuan towards this latest capital raising, while Shenzhen International Logistics is not participating. Once completed, Air China will retain its 51% stake in the airline, while Kunhang Investment lifts its shareholding to 36.6%, from 20.9% previously. By not participating, Shenzhen International Logistics’ ownership stake falls from 28.1% to 12.4%. The capital increase and addition of A350 aircraft was expected to improve Shenzhen Airlines’ capital structure, optimise the fleet, improve its route network and lift profitability, Air China said.
