Akasa Air reaches 40 aircraft in operating fleet

India-headquartered Akasa Air has taken delivery of its 40th aircraft since the airline’s inaugural flights took off close to four years ago. Read More » The 737 MAX 8-200, registration VT-YBQ, touched down at Bengaluru late last week, following its delivery flight from Seattle via Reykjavik in Iceland, and Cairo in Egypt. The airline said it was a significant milestone in its short history and reflected the pace and consistency of its growth since it began flying in August 2022. "Within four years of commencing operations, Akasa Air has emerged as a formidable player in the Indian aviation landscape, while establishing a strong foundation for long-term growth," Akasa Air said. "The milestone comes at a time when the airline continues to expand its network, strengthen its operational capabilities, and invest in building an airline for generations." The 737 MAX 8-200 is part of the airline’s firm order for 226 737 MAX aircraft from Boeing powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines.
